The oil furnace fan will kick on for a few seconds here and there, but nowhere near enough to actually push the warm air upstairs. Meanwhile, the wood furnace's fans run constantly when the fire is going good. Is that the best solution?
Would a thermodisc similar to what came with the wood furnace--only adjustable work as well? Jan 29, 52 Michigan. Nicole - I've been looking into these too.
The main advantage with a traditional fan control is the flexibility you have to make adjustments. I'm installing a Daka furnace right now and am going to wire it so when the wood furnace fan comes on its only CFM that the furnance fan will come on at low speed it's a variable speed blower which I normally run all the time on low speed just to help even the temps out.
I'll see how that works then if needed I can add a separate fan control. What are you doing to wire it to have the wood furnace and main furnace fans come on together? Well - Now I am rethinking my plan. But, I was intending on activating a 24 volt transformer by connecting it to the power supply after it ran through the thermodisc on my wood furnace - that is all fine.
My problem now is I'm wondering if using an outside 24v source to activate the fan on control on the furnace board is a bad idea. My BIL suggested using a relay instead of a transformer and getting the 24 volt power from the furnace board similar to how the thermostat get's it's power and using the relay to turn it on or off.
But even that I'm not sure about because I'm not sure if have a constant signal on "fan on" will mess with how the furnace normally operates It's a newer Rheem with variable speed fanI guess I need to figure out what the regular furnace thermostat does with the "fan on" signal when it calls for heat.
If the 24v is still there, then it should work, if not, then I need to get creative. If anybody has any input I'd appreciate it.

Dec 5, Colorado. In a similar setup my HVAC person suggested that I put a thermostat with a probe into the plenum of the wood burner, and have that thermostat activate the fan of the other furnace. Set the thermostat to cool, not heat, and when the temp in the plenum goes above or whatever you set it at the fan comes on.
Hopefully someone else will help you out.I have a hydroquip spa pack that was installed in to replace a factory unit.
The Hydroquip worked for about a month and the high limit tripped switch went off. Again i filled the hot tub and turned on the power and the high tripped switch still remained on. Anyone out there know why the high tripped switch on the hydroquip is malfunctioning.
Checked unit and found it had tripped off at the heater unit, reset Hi- Limit switch and it operated fine for a few weeks and then did it again. Since then it has tripped at the Hi-Limit reset almost every week. As this unit has a warranty how do I go about getting it repaired? I have contacted HydroQuip and they informed me that I needed to contact the seller for service unless I could send in the heater package for repair.
I am unable to do that because this is in use every day. Please advise how to proceed from here. Thank you, Dave. Dave—I forwarded this to our customer service department. They should be in touch with you today. I am adrian. I having trouble whit morgan hot tub by balboa. What does it do? When your hot tub water reaches unsafe temperatures, the high limit switch which normally remains closed will open in order to break the circuit, preventing the heater from having a literal meltdown in the cases of equipment failure.
The high limit switch must be manually reset after the condition in the tub has returned to normal. In older systems, this may only cut power to the heater when tripped.Senasys bi-metal snap disc thermostats can directly replace many other snap disc thermostats such as Therm-o-disc and Selco. Microtemp Thermal Cutoffs Microtemp Thermal Cutoffs from Therm-O-Disc offer an accurate, reliable solution to the need for upper limit temperature protection.
Know as a thermal fuse, thermal link, or TCO, the MICROTEMP thermal cutoff provides protection against overheating by interrupting an electrical circuit when operating temperatures exceed the rated temperature of the cutoff. The operating principle of the thermal cutoff is a electrically nonconductive pellet that under normal operating temperatures will hold the spring loaded contacts closed. When a predetermined temperature is reached, the pellet melts, allowing the compression spring to relax.
The trip then slides the contact away from the lead and the circuit is opened. After the thermal cutoff opens the circuit it must be replaced.
These devices are often referred to as "one shot" thermal fuses. All temperatures are in Celsius. Therm-O-Disc is a large manufacturer of bimetal thermostats, thermal fuses, and other devices. These controls contain exposed electrical components and are not intended to withstand exposure to water or other environmental contaminants which can compromise insulating components.
Such exposure may result in insulation breakdown and accompanying localized electrical heating. A control may remain permanently closed or open as a result of exposure to excessive mechanical, electrical, thermal, or environmental conditions or at normal end-of-life.
If failure of the control to operate could result in personal injury or property damage, the user should incorporate supplemental system control features to achieve the desired level of reliability and safety.

With all of these switches the process for bypassing the switch is the same; unplug the pellet stove, disconnect the wires from the switch, connect them together and plug the pellet stove back in. Spade connectors can slide onto each other and will stay.
Other connectors you may need to tape together. Or some people prefer to jump the wires together without taking them off the switch. You can jump the wires with a paper clip, a wire or preferably a jumper wire with banana clips. A Low Limit Sensor is usually mounted to the exhaust fan housing and has two wires going to it.
The switch is normally Off or Open and turns on or closes when the stove gets hot.
When you turn off your stove it will stop feeding fuel, the fire goes out and the switch will eventually cool down and open again. When it does this all the fans on the stove will shut off. A High Limit Sensor is usually mounted to the back of the firewall of the pellet stove and has two wires going to it. The switch is normally On or Closed and turns off if the stove gets too hot.
When this switch is activated most stoves will turn off the auger motor and may turn the convection fan on high. The convection fan is what cools the stove so if that fan fails you most likely would have a high limit sensor trip. Some hi limit sensors have to be manually reset such as those on a Quadrafire Pellet Stove. They have a small red button on the back of them. Pressing the button only resets the switch if it has been tripped.
If it has not been tripped pressing the button does nothing. A Convection Fan Switch is usually mounted to the back of the firewall of the pellet stove and has two wires going to it. The switch is normally Off or Open and turns on when the stove gets hot enough which turns on the convection fan.
When the stove cools off the switch opens or turns off and the fan turns off.
